A global community built on shared learning

Starting Pixel is a member-led community for people working with filmed content and the technologies reshaping how it is created.
We bring together individuals from across film, television, advertising, games, live events and education to share real experience, practical knowledge and informed perspective — without sales agendas or noise.
The community exists to help members understand what is changing, why it matters, and how to engage with it meaningfully.

What the community is (and isn’t)

Starting Pixel is:

  • A space for open discussion and peer learning

  • A mix of creative, technical and academic voices

  • Global, but grounded in real-world practice

  • Curious, critical and generous with knowledge

Starting Pixel is not:

  • A marketing channel

  • A sales pipeline

  • A broadcast-only audience

  • A place for unsolicited promotion

This balance is what keeps the community valuable.

Where the community lives

The Starting Pixel community spans several spaces, each serving a specific purpose.

  • WhatsApp Community
The main discussion space. Day-to-day conversation, questions, ideas and shared links.

  • Events (online and in-person)
Including Starting Pixel Live, local meet-ups, and informal gatherings at industry conferences.

  • Media
The Starting Pixel Podcast and weekly round-ups provide longer-form thinking and curated signals from across the industry.

The website acts as the home for membership, governance and access.

Who the community is for
