About the event

Who is a Virtual Production Supervisor?

In the mix and match worlds of virtual production (entertainment, VFX, Film, TV, advertising, social and more) is in hyper-growth, leading to confusion on roles & responsibilities, expectations, terms and methodology.

As a result producers, commissioners, agencies and clients are avoiding VP as they aren't confident in what it can and can't do. And creatives lack awareness, experience and the network to draw on when considering virtual production.

As a result, VP Supervisors are often turned to to help. But when should that happen? What to expect? Can a budget sustain one? Do you actually need one?

This role is developing as fast as the VP tech, however, the interpretation of the role and responsibility of this individual is up for debate. Some see it as a on-set only role and deeply technical, others see it more of a directorial role where the entire VP function reports into.

So how is this navigated?

This panel discussion will talk about the role, their ideas of the responsibilities, the challenges which comes of it, and how best to understand the rules of engagement.

Chair: Rachel Wood (VP Co-Ordinator)

Panelists: David Gray (VP Supervisor), Carlotta Merzari (VP Producer) & Adam Loveday-Brown (Film Lead)
